          • An important delegation led by Brest métropole océane and Technopôle Brest-Iroise went to Shanghai, Qingdao and Beijing (China) in early December.

In Shanghai, meetings were held within the framework of the partnership between Brest’s university and engineering schools and Shanghai Maritime University (SMU). The French and Chinese stakeholders have initiated new avenues of cooperation, namely in the field of oceanography, coastal zone management and renewable marine energy.

The delegation attended and participated in the “2012 Shanghai Oceanic Forum on Blue economy & Green development” on December, 4th.

In Qingdao, a working meeting with academic and scientific partners from the Ocean University of China (OUC), the First Institute of Oceanology (FIO), the State Oceanic Administration (SOA), Chinese companies and the representatives of Qingdao Department of Science and Technology (DOST), was organized in order to develop and strengthen the cooperation in the framework of the MiTiN network.

Also, blue growth was another item on the agenda. The topic was tackled with the aim to prepare the setting up of a conference in 2013 with all MiTiN members.

In Beijing, the delegation met with the services of the French Embassy and discussed the current and future projects with China.
