“Innovation at the service of a low carbon economy” was the theme of the Atlantic Forum, one of the five meetings organized by the European Commission and held in Brest on October 29 and 30, 2012.

Over 160 participants representing national authorities, territorial authorities, civil society and the private sector discussed the maritime strategy to be established by 2020.

Three main topics were developed during workshops: renewable marine energy (RMEs), the ship of the future and maritime safety.

Stakeholders from Brest were ever-present as in the case of Technopôle Brest-Iroise who used the event as an opportunity to promote the territory’s expertise.

Research organizations, institutes and companies such as ENSTA-Bretagne, IFREMER, France Energies Marines contributed to the work on RMEs.
